ABSTRACT

Technology systems that are designed to support negotiators in their role are classified as Negotiation Support Systems (NSS). These systems were developed and used during the 1980s in the information and communication technologies (ICT) revolution with moderate success due to the social and political implications of the pre-Internet era. As the ability of computer systems to store and access great amounts of information grew, it allowed the development of appropriate models and procedures that processed this information. Supporting negotiation functions and performing simulations allowed for better decision making and the automation of many negotiation processes.
