ABSTRACT
Internal turmoil in 1905-6 imposed on the Russian government the need to look for remedies at home and abroad. The measures ranged from unprecedented concessions to the liberal opposition to attempts to stabilize Russia’s international position and the London embassy actively participated in bringing about the longsought rapprochement with Britain.
