ABSTRACT
In this final chapter of Part I we turn to consider the help which the women sought for their difficulties. Here we shall be concerned both with the time before the women went to the refuge and with the time after they left it. The aim of this chapter will be to set the scene for Part II, in which we will consider in more detail the ways in which different agencies can help abused women.
