IntheprecedingchapterwehavepresentedawayinwhichKantholds thatmanyjudgmentscanbeverifiedandawayinwhichheholdsthat manyotherjudgmentscanbeverified.Wehavealsofoundwhyheargues thatmetaphysicalprinciplescannotbemadeouttobetrueorfalseineither oftheseways.IntheensuingchaptersIshallpresentthestepswhichKant takesinordertofindhowtheycanbeverified.Commentatorshave treatedindetailseveraltopicsthatKantdiscussesintheCritiqueofPure Reason.However,failingtorecognizethattheprimaryaimoftheCritique istodiscoverhowmetaphysicscanenteruponthepathofascience,they havefailedtoshowwhatKant'sdiscussionofeachparticulartopic contributestotheattainmentofthisaim.Whenoneconsidershow empiricaljudgmentsareverifiedandhowanalyticjudgmentsareverified, itbecomespuzzlinghowanyfurtherwayremainsbywhichsynthetic judgmentscanbeverifiedapriori.Onemaywellwonderwhereonecan eventurntogetlightuponthis.InthepresentchapterIshallsetforththe routesthatKantproposesforseekingasolutionandhisreasonsfortaking them.
