ABSTRACT
For the purposes of this text, post-contract cost control is defined as the control of costs after the contract has been awarded to carry out the building work. The emphasis is to be on the cost control from the contractor’s perspective, but the client, subcontractors and suppliers are also looking to control their costs. Mention will be made from time to time about the client’s cost-control mechanisms, as, while similar, the emphasis can be different especially since the client is usually looking for a much longer period for their returns.
