ABSTRACT

This chapter will examine and illustrate themes for cross-curricular learning. It argues that themes arising from the lives of teachers and pupils most easily connect to the priorities, connections and attitudes important them. The overarching meta-theme suggested in this chapter is that of sustainability. Each suggested theme is illustrative and chosen to help generate the globally conscious, confident friendly, flexible, collaborative, secure and creative individuals needed to tackle the challenges of 21st century life now and an in the future. Two contrasting cross-curricular approaches will be introduced.
