Politics and Race

In what follows I want to try to explain the reason for there being no Socialism in the United States (in the sense developed in the previous chapter) by specifying the particular conditions in which the American proletariat lives. First of all, I want to deal with the character of political life, since that is what every observer considers most obviously distinctive.
