ABSTRACT
Once you tell somebody you’re on welfare they look down on you. They think you’re not as good a person because you can’t make it your own. And support yourself. And for years I would go out of my way not to let people know…. when I first got on welfare it made me feel really horrible that you have to take a hand out. But you need money to live on. I just find a lot of people they stereotype you as soon as they know you’re on welfare. (Alexa, interview)
