ABSTRACT
In the previous chapter I considered the setting in which the work of psycho-sexual medicine takes place and some possible theories that might be used to try to understand what goes on. None of the ideas seemed to be able to provide a totally appropriate basis within which to create a system of knowledge or an effective way of thinking about the work.
