ABSTRACT
Most country leaders in Asia acknowledge that these problems are serious and merit far greater attention than they receive. Yet the region has not developed the collective consciousness and commitment necessary to address them effectively. Conflict among countries in the region over issues such as access to water, acid rain, and fisheries resources is commonplace. Only a few countries have demonstrated the political will to tackle their environmental challenges domestically, much less participate in region-wide solutions.
