ABSTRACT
There are two reasons for collecting demographics. First, some research problems re-
quire it. For instance, if a research purpose is to compare men and women on some variable,
gender will need to be determined. The second reason for collecting demographics is to en-
able a researcher to describe a sample in enough detail that readers of the research report can
get a good idea of what types of individuals participated in the survey.
