ABSTRACT

The identification of training needs must begin with a recognition that the training manager is functioning in the broader context: that there are both corporate and individual training requirements. In the first two sections of this chapter this broader context is explored by examining two important areas: the link with strategic planning and the link with corporate culture. This is followed by a review of a topic that is rapidly advancing up the agenda: the particular issues raised by the international company – discussed as training for the global workforce.
