ABSTRACT

In the previous chapter I considered the claim that training will play an exciting new role in the organization of the future. Training can become essential to competitive strategy because the source for advantage is embedded in the skills and the capabilities of knowledge workers. There is a deliberate attempt by Government to encourage best practice, which could work to reinforce the training managers’ efforts. I identified the implications of these current trends and urged the training manager to consider the impact of these trends on his or her organization.
