ABSTRACT
The national language is standard Arabic. There are 70 000 speakers of Dhofari Spoken Arabic; 441 000 of Gulf Spoken Arabic; 720 000 of Omani Spoken Arabic; 130 300 of Southern Balochi; 1 000 of Bathari; 25 000 of Western Farsi; 700 of Harsusi; several hundreds of Hobyot; 25 000 of Jibbali; 3 000 of Kumzari (on the Musandram Peninsula only); 5 000 of Luwati and 15 000 of Mehri.
