ABSTRACT
Given that conflict is inevitable in international relations, conflict prevention, management and resolution have attracted serious attention. Incompatible demands and claims made by one party can be met with refusal, counterclaim or denial by another party. Violent conflict is very destructive and expensive in terms of human lives and material resources. In considering the cost of war, peaceful settlement is a much better way to handle conflict. However, resolving conflict nonviolently requires strong commitments from all sides. Diverse methods have been applied to deal with a dispute that arises from a disagreement concerning a matter of fact, law or policy.
