ABSTRACT
The early chapters of this research discussed housing markets and strategies as a concept, illustrating these theoretical discussions with an examination of the policy framework which exists in the East Midlands region and how this relates to local housing demand. Chapter Four examined the manner in which housing strategy formulation could be developed through corporate approaches to policy formulation, highlighting the degree to which some authorities involve private housebuilders and work inter-departmentally. Developing from this, Chapters Five and Six examined the manner in which local authorities monitored housing markets and the extent to which certain data sets could be utilised as a means of monitoring the housing market.
