Environmental Management Policies in Cetrel: A Case Study of the Implementation of Pollution Control Policies in the Periphery

This chapter is a case study of the historical evolution of environmental management policies and practices in the Central de Tratamento de Efluentes Líquidos-Empresa de Proteção Ambiental, the hazardous waste management and treatment company of the “Pólo.” I divide the history of Cetrel into two distinct phases that take into account the major changes in its practices, responsibilities, ownership, and policies.
