ABSTRACT

Tennis is a game of many skills. Serves, groundstrokes, and volleys are just a few examples. Each skill is composed of various parts or elements that, if executed correctly, contribute to successful performance of the skill. For example, when hitting a groundstroke, bringing the racket back early in preparation for the shot and following through after contact with the ball are two elements of the skill that make for a good groundstroke. Elements, then, are the foundation of your game. Without them, the foundation cannot stand. By learning and practicing the elements that make up the skills of tennis, a player can build a solid foundation that contributes to effective performance on the court.
