ABSTRACT

We view the world in a certain manner that enables us to live in the world and work out some kind of meaningful existence. The way we think about the world reflects the dominant worldview of our time which in our country and Western countries in general is largely scientific and technological in nature. This scientific and technological culture we live in involves a certain way of viewing the world that shapes our language and concepts and the way we relate to the world. This way of thinking influences everything we do and is reflected in every aspect of our lives, including ethics, economics, politics, and the way we relate to nature. In this kind of world, the knowledge attained by science and the tools and techniques of technology are used to manipulate and shape the natural world in our interests. This manipulation is based on a certain understanding of the way in which the world works and functions.
