ABSTRACT

We are living in frightening times. According to Korten, “we see a future in which the evolutionary viability of our species is in doubt. Our most powerful and respected institutions are driving rather than resolving the unfolding crises” (Korten 2015, p. 56). To change course we must rewrite the story of our future and this utopian description must include how we structure our relationship to nature and society – the very essence of ecological economics. We must also take the ecological economic story in front of a far wider audience, make it a focal point of discussion in conversations, in mass media and in academic work.
