ABSTRACT

The world is changing, and with it all the ideas about regulation and communication policy in broadcasting, telecommunication and information sectors. Digital technology, together with the new waves of globalisation and liberalisation, has introduced a new order into the nationally-oriented broadcasting and telecommunication markets. In the twenty-first century, it is useful to consider broadcasting policy within a common framework of communication policy at national, regional and global levels. Powerful states need to reconsider their nationally-oriented broadcasting policies and strategies by merging their different existing regulatory authorities into one common regulatory platform or commission, able to carry out effectively nationallyoriented and globally-focused info-com policies.
