ABSTRACT
The agricultural communities (of among others) Canela Baja, Canela Alta and Canelilla, as well as the hacienda El Totoral and the fundos that were formed from it, apparently have their origins in two mercedes de tierra, which later on became known as El Totoral and La Canela.
