ABSTRACT

Within the conceptual rubric of multidisciplinarity and teamwork, as outlined during the previous chapter, members of a 'multidisciplinary team' are generally described as bringing different modes of expertise to bare on the decision making process of a team working within a community based setting. Thus, a social worker is seen to draw upon a different reservoir of knowledge than an individual who is a trained and practising counsellor. As the previous chapter sought to illustrate this notion is derived from a multidisciplinary focus which suggests that the provision of different modes of expertise oriented toward tackling 'clients needs' generates more holistic and more informed solutions and strategies for professional intervention.
