ABSTRACT

There are several aspects to the performance of a filter, the most obvious being how accurately it follows the desired frequency response. That has been examined thoroughly in the last few chapters. Here we examine two other important aspects of performance; the noise and distortion behaviour of various types of filter. The distortion performance in particular is rather complicated. This situation has not been improved by the advent of a band called Filter Distortion, [1] which much impedes Google searches on the subject.
