ABSTRACT

Ms. Abadi, 1 a counselor at Gonzalo Garza Independence High School, a solution focused high school, was nervous. After taking some time off to receive treatment at an inpatient facility, a previous student had just re-enrolled in school. The student, Troy, had been suffering from substance use disorder (SUD) and anorexia nervosa, a serious and sometimes fatal eating disorder. His combination of symptoms and level of lethality resulted in his hospitalization. He had been gone for two months and, as a result of his hospitalization, had become sober and gained weight, showing that his eating disorder was under control.
