Nationalisms and Political Violence: State Violence and Response Violence

Politics presupposes a conflict of interests generated by an unequal distribution of resources, resolved through relations of power which emerge out of the alliance between coercion and legitimacy. In this way, violence stalks politics, ready to break through the fissures resulting from an inadequate welding of the coercion used by power and its social legitimation. The less legitimate the power is, the more violent it will be.
