ABSTRACT
There has been renewed interest in the subject of wealth distribution in North America and Western Europe in the last several years. In the United States, for example, there has been a virtual explosion of surveys on household wealth over the last ten years. Results from these surveys have appeared in newspapers and magazines around the country and generated considerable controversy and attention.
