ABSTRACT

In this chapter, I will discuss the case of Edward, a 29-year-old, single, computer software manager. Edward was ambitious and realised that to improve the chances of job advancement he needed to tackle his anxiety problem about meeting new people in social situations related to work. He was expected to socialise with potential new clients at promotional social events and was struggling to do this. Because he did not want his employer to know of this problem, he decided to seek help from an external coach and to fund the work himself.
