Province and Ministry of Light Industry Joint Investigation Group Argues for "Multiple Utilization" to Reduce Waste (Source 9, pp. 151-161) December 1970

Thanks to multiple utilization, the "waste materials" of 228the past have now become a treasure. Formerly, the plant spent hundreds of thousands of yuan every year to carry the cinders, silt, and iron pyrite slag out of the plant and to dump them into the sea. Now they are the raw materials for making cinder bricks, cement, carbon steel, and cast iron. Since last year, utilization of these cinders, silt, and slag has created a wealth of several hundred thousand yuan for the state.
