ABSTRACT
How are young people to learn about mental health if nobody talks to them about it? All they will learn is that it is not to be mentioned. This perpetuates the myth that it is dangerous and to be avoided. An organisation called Mindful Employer (www.mindfulemployer.net/charter.html) established in 2004, has identified how people choose not to reveal that they have had mental health problems when applying for jobs. Its mission is to promote positive attitudes to mental health problems in the workplace. It recognises how people with mental health problems have been discriminated against. It quotes the Equality Act of 2010 in the charter for employers who are positive about mental health as detailed below and available to download from their website.
