This chapter delves into the second and third Dimensions of World Music Pedagogy, Engaged and Enactive Listening, exploring the ways deep and participatory listening can enrich choral music learning experiences featuring diverse musical cultures. The chapter shares the many ways Engaged Listening might manifest in choral music classrooms, including sing-along, play-along, and move-along tasks that are completed while the recorded music is sounding. Enactive Listening activities are also presented, showcasing opportunities for students to re-create the listening examples, returning to the original recording to inspire and refine culturally appropriate performances that honor the tradition being studied. The chapter includes ten Episodes that feature Engaged and Enactive Listening activities; the Conductor’s Corner features South Africa choral conductor, composer, and arranger Michael Barrett.
