ABSTRACT

There is a certain amount of confusion involving the appropriate label that might plausibly be attached to Trump and the voters that elected him to the US Presidency. Are Trump and his admirers really “fascists” or simply “populists” along the lines of their European counterparts in France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Poland, and Hungary? Or, should we regard the latter as “fascist” or “neo-fascist” as well. This chapter’s purpose is to identify the meaning of these etiological designations to see if they apply to the American president and his administration.
