ABSTRACT

The past couple of chapters have shown how social human beings are. But what does being social actually mean? An important part of being social is interacting with other people, in one way or another. That interaction might take place through language, through signs and indicators, or through symbols of one form or another — and all of these are forms of communication. Communication may be direct or indirect, personal or general; but it exerts a constant influence on how we feel, what we understand, and what we do.
