ABSTRACT

The development of biomass energy is much less successful than most other renewable energy resources in China. Among the five targets for biomass energy in the 11th Five-Year Plan (2005–2010), three were not met (Table 10.1). In the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011–2015), all the five targets were missed (Table 10.2). Biomass constitutes only a tiny share in Chinese energy economy. It accounted for 0.67% of total primary energy consumption in 2010 and 0.81% in 2015.
