ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the realities of daily life and discipline among British Buddhist ordained women through the lens of dress. Dress is understood in this chapter to encompass changes to clothes, hair and name that occur following (or in the lead up to) ordination. This chapter argues that while dress has a symbolic function for British Buddhist women, it is also dynamic and productive, helping to put religious teachings into practice in an embodied way.
