British Buddhist women and narratives of conversion

This is the first chapter of the book which looks in detail at the narratives of British Buddhist women, drawing attention to their backgrounds and biographies and how they became involved with different Buddhist groups. The chapter then focuses on why women chose Buddhism, before examining the meaning behind their ‘conversion’ experiences. The chapter considers the implications of this for scholarly understandings of religious change.
