ABSTRACT
architecture has been almost non-existent in the industrial areas of this country for the last hundred years. Instead we have had crude building masses, largely unplanned, and often ill-fitted for the processes they house. The early factories built before the full impact of the industrial revolution were much better and shared in the general high level of taste general in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
