ABSTRACT

Historically we have always looked at research in terms of studying and quantifying the size of the effect to the health of a baby of being breastfed. More recently, it has become standard to look at outcomes from the point of view that breastmilk is the natural nutrient for an infant. We should not begin from the point of view that breastfeeding has advantages to the health of mother and baby but that alternatives 33have risks because they are not bio-specific. So, for the baby, any change in health is produced by the consumption of artificial formula milk.
