Growth in the livestock sector has consistently exceeded that of the crop sector. The total dem and for animal products in developing countries is expected to m ore than double by 2030. By contrast, dem and for animal products in the indus trial world has been growing at low rates, and live stock production in this group of countries is expected to grow only slowly over the projection period (see Table 5.1).
