ABSTRACT
MOHAMMED ZAHIR SHAH (King, November 8, 1933-July 17, 1973). Mohammed Zahir Shah was born in Kabul on October 30,1914. His father, Mohammed Nadir Shah, had been proclaimed king of Afghanistan in October of 1929, following the overthrow of King Amanullah the previous December. Zahir was educated in France and attended the Kabul Infantry School. In 1931 he married Princess Houmairah Begum.
