Democracy party following the resignation of Evangelos Averoffin September of 1984. He was elected prime minister of Greece by a narrow margin on April 11, 1990.

LEO V. DE GALE (Governor-General, February 7, 1974-December 1978). Leo Victor de Gale was born in St. Andrews on December 28, 1921. He was educated in Grenada and Canada and worked as a teacher. He served as a member of the Public Service Commission from 1960. De Gale was named acting governor of Grenada on January 24, 1974. He became governorgeneral of Grenada following independence on February 7, 1974. He retired from office in December of 1978. De Gale died on March 23, 1986.
