SHEIKH MAKTUM IBN RASHID AL-MAKTUM (Prime Minister, December 2, 1971-April 25, 1979). Sheikh Maktum ibn Rashid al-Maktum was born in 1943. He was the son of Sheikh
Rashid ibn Said, the ruler of Dubai from 1958. He was active in his father's regime and became the first prime minister of the United Arab Emirates upon independence on December 2, 1971.
