ABSTRACT
EDUARD VON STEIGER (President, 1945). Eduard von Steiger was born in Bern on July 2, 1881. He was elected to the Swiss Federal Council in December of 1940 and served as head of the Department of Justice from 1941. He served as president of the Federal Council in 1945 and 1951. Von Steiger retired from the government in December of 1951. He died on February 10, 1962.
