AHMED ZAKI (Prime Minister, August 1972-March 6, 1975). Ahmed Zaki was born in 1932. He was named prime minister of the Maldives in August of 1972. He was reappointed prime

minister in February of 1975. Zaki was accused of plotting a leftist coup against President Ibrahim Nasir in March of 1975. He was ousted from office on March 6, 1975, and banished to a remote atoll. Zaki was pardoned by President Nasir in November of 1978.
