ABSTRACT

Throughout this book, the parallels between teaching and design and technology have been addressed. The making phase of design and technology parallels the implementation phase of teaching. Children, when making, are putting into action their designs: teachers are implementing their plans. The children need to be encouraged to look for evidence during making to inform their evaluations of the work, its outcomes and the processes

involved. Similarly, teachers should be collecting evidence of children's learning and of how they interact with the children to allow them to evaluate their teaching and to inform future plans.
