Somepolicemanagersattractedtoproblemorientedpolicinghedgetheirbetsby combiningitwithotherstrategiesthatenlist communityhelpindealingwithproblems, suchascommunitypolicing,crimereduction partnershipsandbrokenwindowspolicing(or ordermaintenance).Thesemanagersare likelytoclaimthattheyareimplementing 'community-orientedproblemsolving'(COPS) or'problem-solvingpartnerships',orthattheir ordermaintenanceactivitiesareaformof communitypolicing.Infact,thesestrategies arenotreallycompatibleandtheattemptto combinethemcanproduceamess.
