ABSTRACT
The impact of differences in student characteristics on learning in school and training contexts is one of the major themes in the history of research relating psychological knowledge to learning. It is, of course, well known that Binet was originally commissioned to develop a test of student characteristics so that the "uneducable" could be identified and removed from regular schools for specialized placement. Since then, the effects of learning differences among students has been a regular theme in educational research.
