In an article [entitled] "Zur Schopfungsgeschichte des Fauxbourdon," Rudolf von Ficker attempted to defend the traditional interpretation of this question [i.e., of the origins of the technique of fauxbourdon].l He disputes both the facts and the methodology of my inquiry [see the study cited below in note 2], which was aimed at explaining the style transformation in the fifteenth century otherwise than previously.
