ABSTRACT

Historically, Werner Lutz (1956) was among the first to suggest a systems model of social work practice. What he described as the "interactionist" model derives directly from a systemic approach to professional functioning. This model can be practiced in all social work settings and calls for an intervener with a holistic outlook. He particularly emphasized the multiorganizational or intersystemic nature of the environments in which our clients live and through which they are helped.
