ABSTRACT
GMDSS GMDSS is an enhanced Search And Rescue (SAR) system using automation and advanced satellite and HFIMFNHF radio communication technology.
The System is a combination of:-
Satellite communications;
MF/HFNHF Radiotelephony ;
Radiotelex (Direct Printing Telegraphy); Survival Craft Radar Transponders (SARTs); Satellite EPIRBs;
Data transmission ; and
Digital Selective Calling (DSC). Some companies are manufacturing the full range ofGMDSS equipment to be accessedfrom one keyboard and one VDU (screen).
